Welding Class Follow Up:
Thanks for joining us for a welding class! I Hope you learned a ton and felt comfortable with the equipment. We packed in as much info and experience as we could in a 4 hour period, and you did great! Teaching welding is one of my favorite classes to teach- it’s so empowering to pass on a set of skills that can be truly useful throughout your life.
If there’s only one thing I can get across, it’s to remember to “Focus on the Arc”- making sure you can clearly see and control the puddle of molten metal, all good welds come from control of the puddle.

Shop Safety Tips
Seriously- Don’t lick hot metal!
Be very careful about picking up or touching hot metal, be aware of your surroundings and those around you, and stick to the rule of “Assume everything is hot unless you know otherwise” once you start working.
Keep a fire watch- Stick around for at least 30minutes after you finish your day of forging or welding. You’ll be glad you did.
Two or more fire extinguishers should be present, and never right next to the likely sources of fire. These two (or more) should be located in multiple areas, so as not to find yourself with fire between you and the closest (or only) fire extinguisher.
Always wear safety glasses.
