Beginner Blacksmithing- Bottle Openers

By Far our most popular class! We’ve been teaching and refining this course since 2014 and we’ve engineered it to be a perfect introduction to anyone wanting to get started in this craft or to just have a fun day trying something new. This class is intended to teach you what you need to set up your own shop and efficiently transition into the knife making hobby.

Beginner Blacksmithing- Date Night Metal Roses

Our Metal Rose course is a fun experience and a Date Night! No experience necessary, you’ll spend some time forging, forming, welding, and finishing a beautiful steel rose- and you’ll learn a lot along the way!

Intermediate Blacksmithing- Fireplace Pokers (COMING SOON!)

Designed to guide an experienced beginner along on their journey- this project is tailored to refine posture, control, isolation of metal, drawing and tapering, and introduces a Forge Weld into the mix. This class can be taken by beginners with no experience, but you’ll find it’s a little less information and a lot more “doing” than our Beginner Bottle Opener class- it can be intense.

Intermediate-Advanced Blacksmithing- DAMASCUS STEEL MAKING

This is truly our expertise, and we’ll guide you through a 10 hour day learning the metallurgy, material selection, prep and process, patterning, and finishing processes necessary to produce your own pattern welded materials in your home forge. You’ll go home with a patterned block of material that you made and can be proud of, ready to forge into the object of your dreams!

Intro to Welding

The only four hour welding course in the greater Pittsburgh area! We’re going to try to cram in the essentials you’ll need to make cool things in your garage. We’ll use entry level welders and equipment that you’ll actually purchase, and techniques that you’ll actually use in your projects concentrating heavily on troubleshooting and setup.

MAKE YOUR OWN RING

We pioneered the idea and built a shop out specifically for this task- we invite you to come to Pittsburgh PA and spend the day making your own damascus steel ring! You’ll do everything from forging and patterning the material to machining and finishing the ring. My goal is for you to truly MAKE the ring, you’ll be as hands on as possible and go home with something you can be proud of!

Intro to Knife Making

We’ve partnered with Forged In Fire Contestant and world renowned expert at all things Spike Knife- Andy Alm of Andy Alm Custom Knives to bring you an introductory level knife making class! We’re hard at work to refine the details, but this will be an incredibly informative and hands on experience producing a unique blade that you can take pride in, armed with a slew of new skills and experience.

This class will have the prerequisite requirement of our Into To Blacksmithing- Bottle Openers class, as we do not believe knife making is an intrinsically entry level skill set.
